Experiencing the SLT Method
I recently had the pleasure of taking a class at the new SLT (Strengthen Lengthen Tone) flagship studio in New York City’s Flatiron neighborhood. As soon as I walked in, I was struck by the light and airy feel of the space, with its minimalist decor and expansive windows flooding the studio with natural light.
Warm and Welcoming Atmosphere
The staff at SLT made me feel immediately at ease with their warm greetings. The locker rooms were pristine and I had plenty of time to stash my things in a locker before class began. When I entered the studio, an instructor showed me how to set up my apparatus and explained what I could expect throughout the Megaformer pilates workout.
A Total Body Workout
The class attracted a diverse group, from fitness enthusiasts to working professionals, all of whom were extremely friendly. As we settled into our spots, I was impressed by how smoothly the instructor led us through exercises utilizing the Megaformer machines. She offered options to make movements more or less challenging, allowing all fitness levels to have an effective workout.
Feeling the Burn
It didn’t take long before I was breaking a sweat! The Megaformer machines provide resistance during exercises like planks and lunges, intensifying full body toning. The class format kept my heart rate elevated through quick transitions between arm, core and leg movements. The soundtrack and instructor’s motivating cues kept my energy and spirits high.
Accomplishment and Invigoration
After 50 minutes of exertion, I felt tired yet invigorated. My body was challenged but not strained. The session ended with relaxing stretches that left my muscles feeling long, loose and refreshed. I walked out with a sense of accomplishment, excited to return.
